Nosebleeds
Nosebleeds, can have many causes, from mental to physical causes.
Very simple causes can also cause nosebleeds such as prolonged stress, too low humidity, allergic rhinitis or due to certain movements to badly clean the nose, etc.
Moreover, nosebleeds can also be caused by a number of dangerous diseases, which makes nosebleeds common, such as diseases related to the ears, nose and throat, high blood pressure, hemophilia , leukemia or hardening of the arteries, etc. And certainly, all these cases require medical attention.
However, in any case, whatever the cause, if a nosebleed happens to you, you must also take the initiative to correctly carry out certain first aid gestures to stop the nosebleed, and prevent it does not happen, does not lead to bad consequences.
The exercise below will help you both prevent a sudden nosebleed and practice acupressure daily to reduce the risk of future nosebleeds.
How to deal with a nosebleed?
For any reason, when you feel or notice a nosebleed, you should immediately seek to stop the bleeding.
The most favorable position for self-care and for haemostasis is to sit quietly in a firm chair, preferably a chair with a backrest.
You can use a handkerchief or something similar to clean the gauze, cover the ends of both nostrils to prevent blood from coming out.
However, you can also very quickly use two fingers (thumb and forefinger) to pinch hard, pinch deep into the side of the nose to stop the bleeding (so you definitely have to breathe through your mouth).
In any case, you must be careful to tilt your head slightly forward but without tilting your neck back to prevent the blood from flowing back into the body and creating a danger.
Simply hold two fingers in a pincer position on the side of the nose and maintain this position after about 10 minutes, the nosebleed will stop.
In addition, you can also simultaneously use your free hands to press the following few acupuncture points to improve rapid hemostasis. Please note that you don’t need to press all of these acupoints, just press one or two of them, but of course, if you can press all of these acupoints, that will be great :
Renzhong DU26 acupuncture point
You can review Renzhong’s Acupoint in the Acupoint DU26 video.
Renzhong’s acupuncture point is located on the “Middle of the Person” groove just above the upper third of the upper lip, in line with the downward projecting bridge of the nose.
To press the Renzhong acupoint in this case, one hand always pinches the sides of the nose, the other hand will press the acupoint with the tip of the finger, such as the middle finger, index finger or thumb.
The tracking force is strong enough to cause pain, but still within tolerance.
Continuous pressing time for about 1 minute.
Always breathe regularly, slowly and deeply, but gently with the lower abdomen is better. Because if you breathe shallow and breathe quickly impatiently, the effect of stopping bleeding will be less effective, the bleeding time will be longer.
After 1 minute pressing Renzhong’s Acupoint, we can move on to pressing the next acupuncture point. I also note that you can press these acupoints as you wish, regardless of which acupoint to press first and which acupoint later:
Fengfu DU16 acupuncture point
Acupoint of Fengfu, you can review this acupuncture point in the video Acupoint DU16
The Fengfu acupuncture point is located in the depression just behind the skull at the back of the neck.
Normally, when you press Fengfu Acupoint yourself to treat some diseases, sitting with your head back and resting your head on the fingertips of the presser on the acupoint is the most favorable position.
However, in this case, when the nose is bleeding, one should always maintain the sitting position slightly tilted forward like this.
So to press Fengfu’s Acupoint, here you have to use the tip of the thumb and let the hand stay in this position. It will prevent our hands from losing strength, and the presser on the acupuncture point will have the best effect.
Always breathe slowly, deeply and gently with your lower abdomen.
Our pressing time on this acupuncture point is also about 1 minute.
Jingming BL1 acupuncture point
Jingming’s Acupoint, you can review this acupuncture point exactly where it is in the Acupoint BL1 video
We have 2 Jingming Acupoints located just near the corner of the eye and just near the bridge of the nose like this. With free hands, we will press on both Jingming Acupoints at the same time with two fingers, like the middle and index finger, or the index finger and thumb like this etc… it’s up to you whether you find it convenient.
The continuous pressing time for Jingming’s Acupoint is also 1 minute.
Shangxing DU23 acupuncture point
You can review how to correctly identify Shangxing’s Acupoint in the Acupoint DU23 video.
The Shangxing acupuncture point is located in front of the forehead, on a straight line passing through the center of the head, 4 cun from the Yintang acupuncture point.
In the case of nosebleeds, one hand strongly pinches the side of the nose, the head is slightly bent like this, the other hand presses the Shangxing acupuncture point in several ways, such as the following:
- You can use the tip of your thumb and being in a pressing position like this will have a good healing effect.
- Alternatively, you can also make a fist as I indicate here, so that the joint between 1st phalanx and 2nd phalanx of the middle finger is the highest and most closed. It’s called 1st phalanx and 2nd phalanx of the middle finger and it’s called 3rd phalanx of the middle finger so it matches what I said here is the proximal interphalangeal joint of the middle finger will go up as high and firm as that.
We will press directly on Shangxing’s acupuncture point with this raised seal.
Also, if there is a table in front of you, you can rest your elbows on it during Shangxing’s Acupoint presser.
Shangxing Acupoint presser time is also 1 minute.
If during the process of pinching the nose and presser acupoint, blood flows, you will use your free hand to stop the presser acupoint to use a handkerchief or other suitable object to gently wipe the bleeding outside. Do not let go of the hand that pinches the nose because it will more or less damage the part of the blood that is formed and therefore the blood will flow again and we will have to spend more time waiting for the bleeding to stop.
Normally, it will take about 5-10 minutes to be able to safely stop the bleeding completely.
Massage, press the acupoints to prevent nosebleeds
And now I will talk about the second work which is also very important, that is, people who often have nosebleeds should press an acupuncture point, how to limit the number of times as well as limit the degree of nosebleeds?
To avoid nosebleeds, you can massage, squeeze the acupuncture points at any time. The position for performing movements of massaging and pressing the acupoints here can be seated or lying down, as long as you feel comfortable.
There are many acupuncture points which have the effect of preventing nosebleeds, but here I would like to introduce you to only 2 relatively simple and easy to practice acupuncture points which according to many experts have a high preventive effect, Acupoint by Juliao and Acupoint by He Gu.
Acupuncture point of Juliao ST3
Juliao Acupoint ST3, you can review this acupuncture point in the Acupoint ST3 video.
Two Juliao Acupoints can be identified easily. The Acupoint of Juliao is located at the intersection of the straight line of the pupil downwards and the horizontal line of the base of the nose.
We will squeeze out 2 Acupoint de Juliao at a time.
As a reminder, these acupuncture points are pressed when there is no nosebleed. In fact, we’re pressing here to avoid nosebleeds in the future. Both hands are free.
We can use the fingertips of both hands or one hand as you wish, press the 2 acupuncture points of Juliao with relatively strong force enough to cause pain, and the pain is within your tolerance.
Note that you should not press the tip of the nail into the acupoint, but use your fingertip without a nail like this to press the acupoint, avoiding hurting your face.
The continuous pressing time is about 1-3 minutes. Then move on to pressing He Gu’s two acupoints.
Acupuncture point of He Gu LI4
He Gu’s Acupoint, you can review He Gu’s Acupoint in the Acupoint LI4 video.
When you close your hand like I do, He Gu’s acupuncture point is in the highest convex position. Here is the location of He Gu’s acupuncture point.
We will use one hand to press He Gu’s acupuncture point with the other hand.
For example, here I use my left hand presser on He Gu’s acupuncture point on my right hand.
I use the thumb tip of my left hand to press the acupuncture point like this.
The continuous pressing time is also about 1-3 minutes.
The pressing force is also relatively strong, enough to cause pain that you can bear.
At the same time, you should also squeeze in the usual technique “Press – release” at regular intervals, so that the stimulating effect of wound healing is increased.
You can place both hands on the table, or on your thighs if you’re seated, or place them on your stomach if you’re lying down.
Then switch hands, using one hand to press He Gu’s acupuncture point for the other, using the same technique and timing.
Finally, you can also cycle, returning to presser on two Juliao acupoints for about a few minutes, then returning to presser on each He Gu acupoint for as long as you want.
I wish you good health, effective prevention and treatment of diseases!
